Translation Teams
Language Marketplace has a Team approach to the translation of all documents. We have a Translator, Proofreader (Reviser) and Team Coordinator.
Below are the typical team roles in a Translation Team:
Translators
Role description:
Translators are mother-tongue in their language. They interact with a Team Coordinator, assimilating the nuances of the meaning of the source text, comparing them with similar concepts in the target language.
Qualifications:
- Language: Mother tongue in the target language and be locally acknowledgeable in the country focus.
- Education: Translators need a University Degree in their native language and education that allows them to be Accredited Translators as well as training in the subjects being translated. Extensive knowledge of translation software programs
Translator Proofreader
Role description:
A Proofreader is a mother-tongue translator of the receptor language who is appointed to thoroughly review the draft translation. In some situations they work as a "review committee" who sit together from time to time to read and discuss the translation. A Proofreader is considered a Senior Translator with the skill set to quickly review, revise and assimilate his team member's work. They work closely together often discussing the nuances and meaning in particular documents.
Qualifications:
- Language: Mother tongue in their target language and be locally acknowledgeable in the country focus.
- Orientation: The Proofreader must have excellent linguistic skills as well as knowledge and exegetical skills.
- Education:
>University-level degree
>Post secondary training in translation linguistics and cross-cultural studies
>At least 10 years of experience, and extensive translation software knowledge
Account Coordinator
Role description:
Account Coordinators ensure that the right team is assigned to translate a document. Using Language Marketplace' certified process, they ensure that due dates are met and questions are answered by both the customer and the Translation Team. They also provide a final review of the translated document to ensure that it is formatted correctly as per the customer's instructions.
Qualifications:
- Language: All have a second Language. We have Coordinators in all major base languages.
- Orientation: Must have a customer service attitude. People within this group are carefully selected based upon a winning criteria.
- Education:
University or College Diploma
